The Arizona volleyball team dropped it second straight match, losing to No. 7 Oregon 3-0 Saturday night in Eugene, Ore.
The Wildcats (13-8, 3-6) couldn’t match the Ducks and fell, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20.
With the loss, Arizona in now 1-5 against ranked opponents and is halfway through it’s Pac-10 schedule.
For the second night in a row, the Wildcats got out to a slow start. Arizona was outhit by the Ducks .143 - .278 and only led once at 5-4, while Oregon used a 6-0 run to distance themselves and never look back.
Arizona showed some fight in the second set, but much like other matches in the 2008 season, couldn’t close the set. Oregon jumped out to a 20-11 lead before Arizona made a 9-1 run to close the gap to one point, but the Ducks eventually prevailed 25-20.
The Wildcats’ loss to Oregon will close out a stretch of seven straight matches against ranked opponents. Arizona finished 1-6 in that time.
The team’s next game come against in-state rival Arizona State Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1:30 p.m. in Tempe, Ariz. The match will be televised live on FSN Arizona.
