TUCSON-- For the first time in its 47-year history, the Arizona men's tennis team has three players ranked in the ITA Top 100. Junior Andres Arango, (42), and sophomores Andres Carrasco, (83), and Jay Goldman, (87) all made the men's singles preseason rankings. In addition to the singles rankings, the duo of Goldman and Arango made the preseason top 50 doubles (48).
A native of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Arango transferred from Arizona State where he complied a 15-9 singles record and a 13-8 doubles record.
Carrasco finished the 2007-08 season with a 15-8 singles record and a 8-7 doubles record with his usual partner Pat Metham. The junior hails from Cabrils, Barcelona, Spain.
Goldman, from Worcester, Mass., finished the 2007-08 campaign with a 18-8 singles record and a 14-6 a doubles record with usual partner Claudio Christen.
Arizona opens the fall season in the Costa Mesa Futures tournament next weekend in Costa Mesa, Calif.
