TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona’s No. 29-ranked women’s tennis team continued its home court dominance on Friday as it defeated Colorado (7-12, 0-8) by a score of 7-0. The Wildcats (13-8, 3-5) extended their home-court winning streak to 11-0 on the season.

Arizona started the match strong, winning the doubles point for the ninth time in 11 matches. Sophomores Susan Mc Rann (Dublin, Ireland) and Kim Stubbe (Mol, Belgium) finished a quick match at the No. 3 spot, followed by senior Natasha Marks (Nottingham, England) and sophomore Lacey Smyth (Oceanside, Calif.) at No. 1 to take the doubles point.

Senior Sarah Landsman (Syosset, N.Y.) and freshman Hailey Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) also earned a win at the No. 2 spot for the Wildcats.

“The team played a well-rounded match and I was happy to see everyone get a win,” Arizona head coach Vicky Maes said. “Doubles went smoothly. Our games have improved so much and it really has resulted in high confidence on the court.”

Arizona did not let up in singles play, as all Wildcats finished off their competitors in straight sets.

Freshman Laura Oldham (Sheffield, England) was the first to finish with her 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Ania Anuszkiewicz at the No. 5 position. Landsman was not far behind in her win over Carla Manzi Tenorio to give UA a 4-0 lead after a default at the No. 6 spot.

Smyth, Stubbe and Marks also earned victories at their respective positions.

“Singles was also focused and well-executed for everyone,” Maes said. “We needed a strong, consistent performance going into tomorrow's match with Utah.”

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday, April 14 to take on No. 43 Utah at Robson Tennis Center. Competition is slated to begin at noon and is free to the public.
