TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The No. 11-ranked Arizona baseball team wrapped up its regular season non-conference schedule with a series-sweeping 7-2 win over visiting Utah Valley State on Sunday. The Wildcats improved to 32-15 overall with the win and dropped to UVSC to 16-36.

Junior Nick Hundley highlighted Arizona’s 10-hit day offensively, going 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Leading 5-2 after seven, Hundley hit his team-leading 12th homer of the season in the eighth, a two-run shot to left, to give Arizona a five-run cushion and the final margin of victory.

Classmates Brad Boyer and Chris Frey each finished with a pair of hits in the game for the Wildcats. Boyer went 2 for 3 with a RBI and two runs scored, while also hitting his third triple of the series. Frey finished 2 for 4 with a run scored for UA.

Freshman Eric Berger (6-0) picked up his sixth win of the year after relieving classmate David Coulon in the third inning. Berger surrendered just two hits over 3 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Trailing 2-1, he worked out an inherited one-out jam with runners on second and third in the third inning by getting a pair of fly outs to right to keep the deficit at one.

Sophomore Mark Melancon worked the final three innings to pick up his team-leading seventh save of the year. Melancon struck out three, walked none and surrendered just one hit in his team-leading 25th appearance of the year.

UVSC starter Brady Drake (4-6) was charged with the loss. The Wolverine left-hander went the distance, giving up all seven runs on 10 hits. He finished with four strikeouts and two walks.

Arizona will play its final nine regular season games against Pac-10 opponents. The Wildcats will next travel to Tempe for a three-game series against No. 22 Arizona State. The series is scheduled for Saturday-Monday with game times of 6:30 p.m., 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

All three games of the ASU series will be broadcast live on 1290 AM The Source.
