NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The Arizona men's golf team notched its first win of the season with a four-stroke win at the Anteater Invitational. The Cats recorded a 872 (+8) on the tournament and were led by senior Jonathan Khan who finished tied for fourth.

The Wildcats earned their first victory since March 2, 2010 at the Braveheart Classic.

Veterans Khan and Tarquin MacManus rescued a round that could have cost the Cats the tournament. UA's bottom three golfers eached scored higher than 77 (+5); there was only only round of 77 or worse in the first two rounds by an Arizona golfer. Khan shot even-par to preserve his place in the top-five and MacManus carded the best round of the tournament by a Wildcat, a 68 (-4).

The fourth place tie is Khan's best finish since the 2010 Braveheart Classic, in which he tied for fourth and Arizona won as a team. MacManus finished seventh, marking his third top-10 finish in just six events this season.

Arizona held off host and defending champion UC Irvine to claim the title. The Anteaters made up three strokes on the Wildcats in the final day, but Khan and MacManus secured victory for the Cats with solid rounds. Cal Poly finished third and Santa Clara fourth.

The individual medal was won by UC Irvine's Bryan Harris, who beat Nick Delio of Cal State Northridge in a playoff. The two finished the tournament with scores of 211 (-5). Geoff Gonzalez of Cal Poly finished third, a stroke back. Khan, Sacramento State's Cameron Rappleye and Sam Smith of USC, competing as an individual, tied for fourth.

The Anteater Invitational was contested at the Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif., a par 72, 6,919 yard course.

Arizona returns to action Feb. 16-18 in the John Burns Intercollegiate in Honolulu, Hawaii.
