Throughout the Arizona Wildcat women's basketball season, freshman Candice Warthen will keep a weekly blog about life as a Pac-10 freshman. Check back for more updates from Candice!
Hello Wildcat Fans!
My first Pac-10 Tournament was very exciting. The whole atmosphere in L.A. was alive. On my first trip to L.A., I fell in love with the place. The scenery is nice and so is the weather. When we arrived to the hotel it felt like we were living in a palace. The hotel was decorated with Pac-10 stickers. Being a freshman it made me feel very good because there wasn't much of this in high school.
On Wednesday, we played our first game against the University of Oregon. We had played them twice already during the regular season and it has been said that it¡¦s hard to beat a team three times and this was true. We went in the locker room with a nice lead over Oregon at half time but they did not go away. They fought a good battle the whole second half but we came out with a victory by one point.
The second day we took on the USC Trojans. This game, in my opinion, was easier than the Oregon game. We were determined and it was a must-win game so we went out and did what we had to do and knocked USC off their own court (NICE!!!!!!). Everyone knew that the third day was going to be tough. We had Stanford for a third time. Stanford is a great team and for some reason it wasn¡¦t hard for them to beat us for a third time at all. They played a great game and we fought until the last buzzer.
Overall, the Pac-10 Tournament was a successful trip for us. Being that it was my first Pac-10 Tournament, I must say that I enjoyed it and i can¡¦t wait until next year.
We are very excited to get a postseason bid to the NIT. That was our goal all season, we didn¡¦t want a spring break. fº We¡¦re determined to play well against Utah State and we need to focus on Arizona basketball.
Thanks for reading my blog! Go Cats!
