????????????TUCSON, Ariz. ?C?Junior centerfielder T.J. Steele went over the fence to bring back a potential two-run homer in the top of the seventh and the Arizona bats responded with seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the inning, as top-ranked Arizona (7-1) defeated visiting UNLV (5-5), 16-6, at Kindall Field on Wednesday.

?

????????????After tying the game at 4-4 with a pair of solo homers in the sixth inning, the Rebels appeared to be on their way to taking the lead when pinch hitter Ryan Thornton hit a towering two-out, one-on shot to straight away center off of reliever Eric Berger.

?

????????????Steele sprinted back to the wall, elevated and snagged the drive right before it fell over the fence for a two-run homer. The defensive gem preserved the tie, ended the inning and sparked an Arizona offensive outburst in the bottom of the frame to put the game away.

?

????????????The Wildcats sent 11 hitters to the plate in the seventh and got a run-scoring triple by Diallo Fon, a two-run homer by Jon Gaston, a pinch-hit RBI single by Bobby Coyle and a two-run triple by Mike Weldon to help give UA an 11-4 cushion.

?

????????????The Wildcats then tacked on five more runs in the eighth on a three-run double by Dillon Baird, an RBI-single by Steele and a run-scoring double by Weldon to put the game completely out of reach.

?

????????????The late offensive fireworks made a winner out of Berger (1-0), while UNLVˇ?s Justin Baca (0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering the go-ahead run in the seventh.

?

????????????Offensively, Arizona finished the contest with 13 hits, including two doubles, two triples and UAˇ?s 17th?homer this season, and 10 different players came around to score at least one in the contest.

?

Individually, Fon (3 for 5, 3B), Steele (3 for 5) and Weldon (3 for 4, 2B, 3B) all finished with three hits on the afternoon, with Fon driving in one and scoring twice, Steele finishing with two RBI and three runs scored and Weldon taking advantage of his first start of the year with a game-high five RBI and two runs scored. Baird chipped in with the bases-loaded double to finish 2 for 5 with three RBI.

?

Arizona will return to action on Friday when it takes on South Alabama at the Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas, at 6 p.m. MST. ?The Catsˇ? pitching rotation for the weekend will be RHP Preston Guilmet, LHP David Coulon and RHP Ryan Perry.
