TUCSON - The 32nd-ranked Arizona Wildcat women's tennis team is set to host No. 56 UC-Irvine at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for Wed., March 23, at 2 p.m.
Last weekend, the Cats (14-3, 2-0 Pac-10) traveled to Las Vegas to play No. 45 Ole Miss on Friday and took on No. 37 Pepperdine in Malibu on Saturday.
On Friday against Ole Miss, the Cats were edged 5-2, ending the program's seven-match winning streak. Arizona dropped the doubles point, losing all three matches. Things did not improve for the Wildcats in singles play. Sarah Landsman won on court two and Kim Stubbe won on court four, earning the Cats' only points of the day.
Coming off of the 5-2 loss, the Cats traveled to Malibu where they defeated Pepperdine, 4-3. The Cats lost all three doubles matches, giving the Waves the doubles point. Fortunes improved in singles action as the Cats won four of six matches. With the match on the line, Natasha Marks on court one and Lacey Smyth on court three entered simultaneous tiebreakers. Both Marks and Smyth won to secure the win for the Cats.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats will host the UC-Irvine Anteaters. Last weekend, the Anteaters (7-7, 1-2 Big West) took on Dartmouth College. Doubles matches were not played due to inconsistent weather. In singles play, the Anteaters won four of six matches and defeated Dartmouth, 4-2.
Wednesday's match is set to begin at 2 p.m. MT at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz.
