WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -

UA freshman centerfielder Caitlin Lowe earned her first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor today after helping the Cats post a 3-1 record last weekend in victories against Arizona State and No. 4 California and a split with No. 9 Stanford.

Lowe had seven hits in 12 at bats, scored four runs including the go-ahead tallies vs. the Sun Devils and the first Stanford game, plus drove in a run and was three-for-three in base stealing.

Last week she and teammates Alicia Hollowell and Autumn Champion each were named among 10 finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year honor.

Her 44 stolen bases are No. 4 on the UA single-season chart and No. 2 nationally. Her .471 batting average rates No. 3 in the nation. She is the national leader in scoring with 1.41 runs per game -- 72 total, just two shy of the UA's top 10 list.

The Player of the Week honor is UA's eighth this season and 90th overall. Hollowell earned P{ac-10 pitcher of the week honors four times, while Wendy Allen, Autumn Champion and Shelly Schultz each were named player of the week once. Hollowell and Lowe also earned USA Softball National Player of the Week honors this season.

Arizona, 48-3 overall and the No. 1 ranked team for the past seven weeks, Monday was picked as a host for NCAA regional play May 20-23.
