Six-foot-4 guard was dismissed from the team on Jan. 18

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- University of Arizona men’s basketball player Chris Rodgers has been reinstated to the Wildcat basketball program by Lute Olson and rejoined the team for practice Monday.

Rodgers, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound guard from Portland, Ore., was dismissed from the team by Olson on Jan. 18, the week of Arizona’s home games with Stanford and California.  The Wildcats travel to the Bay Area to play those teams this week, beginning with a Thursday contest at California.

“He’ll be back with us on the court today,” said Olson.  “He’s fulfilled the various responsibilities that had been set up for him to get back.  I visited with all of the guys individually today to discuss that situation and they are all very much in favor him being back on the floor.”

When asked if Rodgers would play Thursday, Olson replied, “As to whether he will play this weekend or not, I don’t know.  When will I decide when anyone will play?  Once I see the practices and how things go.”

Rodgers is averaging 10.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 16 games this season (13 starts).  He’s shooting 34.6 percent (56-of-162) from the field, including 34.0 percent from three-point range.

Arizona’s Thursday game at California will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. PST and be seen nationally on Fox Sports Net.
