Freshman pitcher Alicia Hollowell was named USA Softball National Player of the Week and Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week. Hollowell also received conference honors, being named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for March 31-April 6, along with sophomore Courtney Fossatti, who was named Pac-10 Player of the Week.
In three games against No. 3 Washington and No. 1 UCLA, Hollowell posted a 3-0 record with 0.33 ERA. She had her sixth on-hitter of the season Saturday against UCLA. On the road trip, Hollowell had two shut outs and only allowed one run.
On the season, Hollowell has a 24-2 record with a 0.33 ERA. She has struck out 236 batters in 168 innings. Against Pac-10 opponents, she has a perfect 6-0 record with a 0.36 ERA.
Over the weekend, Fossatti had a .400 batting average with two runs and four hits. She went 2-for-4 against Washington and one run. On the season, Fossatti has a .355 batting average with 27 runs, 43 hits and three home runs, and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
This marks the first Pac-10 award for Fossatti this season and the second weekly Pac-10 award for Hollowell.
The Cats moved to No. 1 in the recent USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com poll. Arizona will host No. 13 Stanford on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m., and will take on No. 5 California on Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m. The Cats will face Cal again on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
