The second day of the Pac-10 Championships was delayed almost two hours after the heavy fog and mist finally cleared. However, for the No. 22 Arizona men’s tennis team, it was a day they would soon like to put past them.

Coming into the second day, the Wildcats (17-5, 2-4) had to win one of its three matches today to continue playing through the weekend. Unfortunately, the Wildcats lost its only singles matches and both doubles matches of the day.

In the Quarterfinals round of the Championship Singles Flight, sophomore Andres Carrasco faced off against Stanford’s Alex Clayton. After winning both matches yesterday, Carrasco simply did not have enough as he fell 6-1, 6-1.

On the doubles side of the tournament, the Wildcats had two teams in the Doubles Championship flight. Sophomore Jay Goldman and junior Pat Metham teamed up to take on Washington’s duo of Derek Drabble and Martin Kildhal. In a battle of dogs vs. cats, it was the Huskies who prevailed 8-4 to advance to the second round.

Junior Ravid Hazi and Carrasco teamed up to take on Blake Muller and Richard Wire of Stanford. Muller and Wire won the match 8-3 to head into the second round.
