TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Soccer (6-4-0) team was defeated at home for the second time this season by the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 1-0 in overtime.
After dropping their first home game Friday against Long Beach State, The Wildcats came into the game 4-1 at home.
At the end of regulation both teams remain knotted at zero. Four minutes into overtime, UC Santa Barbara’s junior forward Genelle Ives scored the game winning goal in 96th minute of play off of a feed from sophomore forward Kylie McDonald. Arizona was out shot eighteen to six overall, five to zero in overtime.
“We didn’t take care of the ball,” said Head Coach Dan Tobias, “we’ll bounce back and we’ll regroup.”
Arizona will hit the road and play their last non conference game of the season against Santa Clara, October 5th at 1 p.m.
Notes: After the game the Wildcats hosted an autograph session for the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) players and family. Local players enjoyed the game, participated in half time activities and got to meet the UA athletes.
