TUCSON, Ariz.- The top-ranked USC Women of Troy dealt Arizona a dominating 30-15, 30-21, 30-17, sweep in Pac-10 volleyball action in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The defending national champions (16-0, 7-0) posted a nearly flawless performance on offense, as they hit for a school record .595 team attack percentage in the match while committing a record-low three hitting errors on 84 swings. Paced by a 12-kill, zero-error day from Bibiana Candelas, four of the five USC starters that took at least 12 attempts in the match finished without an error.
On the Arizona side of the net, sophomore Kim Glass led all players with 13 kills, but also struggled with nine attack errors as the USC defense was able to key on her all match long. Classmate Bre Ladd added seven kills on .417 in the losing effort.
Arizona, which split its road trip against the Los Angeles schools to pick up its first conference victory of the season, returns home next weekend to face the Oregon schools in McKale Center. The Wildcats will take on Oregon State on Friday in a match that can been seen live on Fox Sports Net Arizona at 7 pm, followed by a 7 pm match against Oregon on Saturday.
