Dear Wildcat Nation,

My name is Natasha Marks and I am a junior on the Arizona women's tennis team. I am writing our team's official first blog, which is very exciting!

First of all, the team and I want to thank all the Wildcat fans for their confidence and support of Arizona tennis. We appreciate everyone who comes out and watches our matches and we look forward to seeing familiar and new faces at the Robson Tennis Center in the spring. This year is a really exciting year for us as we have three top freshman from all over the world, making us a really strong competitor in the Pac-10 and hopefully giving us a chance to reach NCAAs. Our new freshmen are: Susan Mc Rann from Ireland, who is a great team player, Kim Stubbe from Belgium, who NEVER stops laughing and Lacey Smyth from California, who is the hardest worker I have ever seen!

The first tournament of the year (began Thursday) is at Cal Berkeley, and I am very excited to be going to with fellow juniors Sarah, Debora and freshy Susy (Susan). We left campus from the ticket office at McKale in the morning and took a bus to the airport where we caught a plane to Oakland. Then we got the car and sung karaoke to coach Ryan's music all the way to the hotel, which gets rather loud.

The team has been working really hard since we have returned from summer with morning practices, weight sessions and body fat testing in the gym with our fitness trainer Chris! We are all really excited to travel to such a great place like San Francisco, see the famous Pier 39, compete hard and come back to Arizona with some wins!

Have a great weekend Wildcat fans and my next blog will be coming after we return from Cal. Four of my teammates will be going to Colorado next weekend to compete for the first time.
