LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Arizona men’s golf team is tied for 10th at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters after its 315 (+27) brought its total to 618 (+42).

 

The Wildcats, who started the day in 12th place, were led by Tarquin MacManus in the second room. The junior carded a 76 (+4) on the day, tying him for 13th place.

 

19th-ranked UNLV takes a seven stroke lead into the final round; the Rebels are 17 over. No. 12 UCLA is in second at 24 over. Texas A&M, ranked 8th, is in third place at 602 (+26). No. 18 USC is in fourth at 27 over. 10th ranked ASU and 16th ranked Texas Tech are tied for fifth. Oklahoma State, the top-ranked team in the country, is currently in last place, 47 shots over-par.

 

A pair of Pac-10 golfers are tied for the lead individually. ASU’s Jesper Kennegard and USC’s T.J. Vogel are the only golfers under par and have identical scores of 71+72=143 (-1). Johan de Beer of TCU, who was tied for the lead in round one, is in third, one stroke behind Kennegard and Vogel. At three over, Gregor Main of UCLA and Eddie Olson of UNLV are tied for fourth.

 

Jonathan Khan was tied for 12th at the beginning of the day, however he carded an 81 (+9) on day two which dropped him into a tie for 28th. Philip Bagdade is tied for 36th at 11 over. Rich Saferian shot an 81 (+9) in the round, dropping him into a tie for 54th. Brad Nicholson is in 76th. John Kostis, competing as an individual, is tied for 57th at sixteen over.

 

The Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters is contested at the Southern Highlands Golf Course, a par 72, 7,510 yard course. The fifteen-team field includes eleven top-25 clubs. At no. 50, Arizona is lowest ranked team in the field. Round three will tee-off tomorrow, March 14, at 8 a.m. PST.
