Colorado Springs, Colo.-The second day of play at the Air Force Invitational ended with mixed feelings for the Wildcats.

In doubles play, Kim Stubbe and Lacey Smyth won 8-4 against the University of New Mexico team of Ashley Bonner and Laura Richardson, which placed them in the finals.

In the singles Alpha-1 draw, Sarah Landsman lost 6-2, 6-4 to Krissi Schleich from the University of Colorado. Stubbe lost 6-2, 6-1 to Alisa Buslaieva from Oklahoma State University, in the Bravo-2 draw. Smyth won in the Charlie-3 draw 6-1, 6-3 against Xu Chang from Eastern Michigan University. In Delta-4 Jane Huh won 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 against Emma Waites of Iowa State University.

"Even though we were a little up and down in singles today, I feel we are making improvements in every area. What's lacking is match play and thus a bit of physical fitness as well, which was noticeable this morning" said head coach Vicky Maes. "Overall, I'm pleased with what I see. Kim and Lacey played tough to earn a spot in the doubles finals tomorrow and Lacey topped it off with a semi-final win to set up a championship match in her singles flight as well."

The final day of play at the 2010 Air Force Invitational will bring tough matches for the Cats' championship hopefuls.
