TUCSON--Jessica Rak tossed a one-hitter and the Louisville Cardinals knocked out 12 hits in a five-inning 9-0 victory over New Mexico State (6-11) in Game 3 of the Pepsi Arizona Softball Classic Friday afternoon.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak by Louisville to open the year.
Singles by Sara Bauscher and Keola Calderon, and a home run by Melissa Jacobo in the top of the first opened the scoring for Louisville (1-4), then the Cardinals added a run-scoring single and a run on a wild pitch to quickly go up 5-0.
Kenzie Meisenberg walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Calderon's single in the second to make it 6-0.
Calderon drove in two more runs with a double to cap Louisville's three-run fifth.
