TUCSON, Ariz. - The second day of the Wildcat Diving Invitational concluded this afternoon with BYU's Brandon Watson taking first place in the men's three meter event and Buffalo's Meili Carpenter winning the women's one meter finals.

Arizona's Ben Grado placed second in the preliminaries with a score of 363.65, but sprained his ankle on his first dive of the finals. Grado scratched his last three dives and placed eighth in the finals.

"Hopefully tomorrow Ben will be able to dive on platform, but we'll see how he feels in the morning," said Head Coach Dr. Michele Mitchell.

Wildcats Andres Guerra and Cody Montgomery both placed in the consolation finals of the men's three meter event. Guerra placed second with a score of 311.80 and Montgomery came in eighth with 259.50.

Ainsley Oliver placed sixth in the women's one meter consolation finals with a score of 225.15.

"We're still working on her [Oliver's] quickness but she gained some confidence today that will help carry her through the season," said Mitchell.

Arizona's Ashley Herrera and Alexa Wollach also dove, but did not place in the consolations or finals of the event.

Tomorrow's platform events will begin at 11 a.m.
