TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona menˇ?s and womenˇ?s swimming teams continued to do well in Austin on Friday. The No. 4 women are in first place with 583.5 points while the No. 2 men are still in second place with 441.5 points. The University of Texas is still in the lead with 519 points.

Fridayˇ?s meet started off with the womenˇ?s 200 yard medley relay where the Arizonaˇ?s team of Hailey DeGolia, Jessica Embick, Lara Jackson and Courtney Cashion came in first place with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:38.58. The menˇ?s team of Jake Tapp, Marcus Titus, Albert Subirats and Nicolas Nilo came in third place, but their time of 1:26.46 was good enough to automatically qualify them for the NCAAˇ?s.

The womenˇ?s team had three swimmers automatically qualify for the NCAAˇ?s in the 400 yard IM. The swimmers were: Carley Beaudreau (4:13.55), Caitlin Iversen (4:17.17) and Jenny Forster (4:13.97). Kathryn Thompsonˇ?s time of 4:17.68 was good enough for a NCAA consideration time. Arizonaˇ?s Jack Brown had an automatic qualifying time of 3:47.05 in the 400 yard IM on the menˇ?s side. Freshman Cory Chitwood had an NCAA consideration time of 3:48.81

In the 200 free junior Taylor Baughman had a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:46.56. The women also had six consideration times. The swimmers with those consideration times were: Leone Vorster (1:47.59), Anna Turner (1:47.43), Andrea Boritzke (1:48.52), Courtney Cashion (1:49.20), Katherine Raatz (1:48.86) and Susana Helms (1:49.82). On the menˇ?s side of things for the 200 free, Jean Basson posted an automatic time of 1:33.68. Darian Townsend had a NCAA consideration time of 1:35.20 and Nicolas Nilo had a consideration time of 1:35.42.

In the 100 yard breaststroke swimmers Annie Chandler (1:00.58) and Jacquelyn Craft (1:01.51) posted NCAA automatic times while Jessica Embick (1:03.02) posted an NCAA consideration time. For the men, Ivan Barnes (53.88), Bart Steninger (54.07), Marcus Titus (54.13) and Josh Arreguin (54.76) all posted NCAA consideration times.

Swimmers Hailey DeGolia (53.23), Ana Agy (53.80) and Andrea Boritzke (54.31) all posted NCAA automatic times in the 100 yard backstroke. In the same event, Justine Schluntz (55.09), Anna Turner (55.23), Lara Jackson (55.70) and Kathryn Thompson (55.68) all had NCAA consideration times. The men also had good success in the 100 back. Senior Albert Subirats posted an automatic qualifying time of 45.91. Jake Tapp (47.69), Cory Chitwood (48.49) and Bryan Oˇ?Connor (48.74) all posted NCAA consideration times.
