SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Arizona women's tennis team completed the second day of main draw tournament play at the ITA Women's West Regional. The Wildcats advanced one singles player and one doubles team to tomorrow's play. With two wins today, junior Dianne Hollands will advance to the semifinals. The duo of juniors Kelly Perry and Hollands also won today and will play in tomorrow's quarterfinal action.
Hollands will advance to the semifinals of the tournament. Her first win of the day came over USC's Diane Matias, 6-3, 6-3. She then went on to defeat San Diego's Ema Murphy, 6-1, 6-4.
Kelly Perry lost to Pepperdine's Natalie Braverman, 6-2, 6-0. Senior Debbie Larocque also lost in the round of 16 to ASU's Joslyn Burkett in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
The doubles team of Perry and Hollands will move on to tomorrow's quarterfinal action after a win over UNLV's Gyorgyi Zsiros and Cindy Treber 8-2. Larocque and Kasia Jakowlew lost today to San Diego State's Katalina Romero and Indra Erichsen 8-2.
The Wildcats will continue play tomorrow in San Diego. The tournament will conclude on Monday.
