The Wildcats and the Mean Green will meet for just the second time in school history. The two teams met last season on Dec. 21, also in Tucson. Behind Davellyn Whyte's 22 points and Ify Ibekwe's 20 points, Arizona took down North Texas, 88-73.
Arizona is 4-0 to start the season, including 1-0 at home. Junior guard Davellyn Whyte leads the Wildcats with 22.5 points per game, closely followed by sophomore guard Candice Warthen's 21.3 per game. Sophomore forward Erica Barnes leads at the glass with 9.8 boards per game and senior guard Shanita Arnold hands out 4.8 assists per game.
North Texas is 4-1 to start the season, including 2-0 on the road with wins at UT-Arlington (66-47) and at Texas State (61-43). Jasmine Godbolt leads all scorers with 15.0 points per game while pulling down 9.6 rebounds per game. Tamara Torru also chips in with 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.
The Wildcats moved to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 on the road with an 84-67 win at New Mexico State last week. Four Wildcats scored in double digits while shooting 48 percent from the field. Warthen and Whyte each had 20 points. Barnes chipped in with 15 points and freshman center Aley Rohde had 12. Barnes paced Arizona at the glass with nine boards. Arnold had four points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Wildcats shot 47.9 percent from the field (35-73), 33.3 percent from behind the arc (6-18) and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe (8-12). Arizona scored 27 points off of New Mexico State's 21 turnovers.
