Head coach Eric Hansen and the Arizona swimming team head to Austin, Texas for the Texas Invitational, taking place Thursday, Dec. 1 through Saturday, Dec. 3.
For the swimmers, the invitational serves as a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships that will take place in March.
Arizona is led by seniors Cory Chitwood (Union, Ky.), Nick Hadinger (Tucson,,Ariz.), Kevin Munsch (Kent, Wash.), Cameron Owen (Fishers, Ind.), Luke Pechmann (Moorhead, Minn.), Austen Thompson (Chandler, Ariz.) and Kelley Wyman (Ft. Pierce, Fla.) on the men’s side and Alyssa Anderson (Granite City, Calif.), Emma Darlington (Tucson, Ariz.) and Grace Kittle (Dallas, Texas) on the women’s side.
So far this season, both the men’s and women’s relay teams have gone undefeated in every event. The team of Wyman and sophomores Mitchell Friedemann (Allenton, Wis.), Giles Smith (Baltimore, Md.) and Tommy Gutman (Jacksonville, Fla.) currently have the second-fastest time in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:26.69.
In 2010, the Wildcats accrued 14 "A" cut times and won 18 events during the three-day meet.
Competition will begin on Thursday, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
