LINCOLN, Neb.- The Arizona volleyball run through the NCAA Championships came to an end Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to top-ranked Nebraska in the Central Region Finals in NU Coliseum in Lincoln, Neb. The undefeated Huskers (32-0) handed the Wildcats (28-5) just their fifth loss of the season with a 15-7, 19-17, 15-11 victory before a sold-out crowd of 4,043.

The Huskers, led by Laura Pilakowski's seven kills, overpowered the Cats in game one hitting an impressive .415 with 22 kills on 41 attempts and five errors. Arizona, meanwhile hit an uncharacteristic .222 in the game.

Game two saw the Wildcats rally back from a 14-12 deficit and serve five times for game point at 16-15 before a NU rally finally broke through to tie the game at 16. The Cats would look to steal the game, going up 17-16 but would see Nebraska rally yet again and seal the win 19-17 on a kill from Pilakowski.

The Huskers jumped out to an imposing 8-1 lead in the third game, but would see the Cats battle back to tie the score at nine and take the lead at 12-9. Nebraska proved to be too much however, as they went on 6-0 run to steal the game and the match.

Senior Marisa DaLee wrapped up her Arizona career in fine fashion, recording a match-high tying 17 kills on 26 attempts with zero errors, a .654 hitting percentage. She also tallied six total blocks. Junior Jill Talbot added 15 kills on .429 hitting, while senior Allison Napier and sophomore Lisa Rutledge recorded 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Napier also chipped in with a match high 15 digs. Junior setter Dana Burkholder had 60 assists and 11 digs.

Nebraska, who will face Hawaii on Thursday in the Championship semifinals, were paced by Pilakowski's 17 kills and Region MVP Greichaly Cepero's 51 assists, 12 kills and nine digs. The Husker hit .321 for the match.

Notes: Juniors Dana Burkholder and Jill Talbot were named to the Central Region All-Tournament team upon conclusion of the match.

Burkholder broke Arizona's career assist record with her 17th assist of the match. The junior setter now has 4,068 assists in three years, eclipsing Laura Bartsch's 4,024 she dished out from 1992-95.

The 3-0 score was the first time the Cats had been swept all season.
