Arizona beats LMU in straight sets
Wildcats go 10-1 before conference play starts
Using three games with the score of 25-19, the Arizona volleyball team (10-1) beat Loyola Marymount 3-0 before starting conference play next weekend.
Led by sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Owens who recorded a team-high 11 kills and 11 digs, the Wildcats beat the host Lions 25-19 in three straight games and finished the LMU Tournament 2-0.
Owens finished with her third double-double on the season and senior Brooke Buringrud added 10 kills of her own in the win.
As a team, the Wildcats hit .358 compared to the Lions .139 clip.
Sophomores middle blocker Stephanie Snow and setter Paige Weber also played a big role in the Wildcats’ tenth win of 2008. Snow ended with six kills and four blocks, while Weber contributed 32 assists.
This was Arizona’s sixth straight win.
The Wildcats kick off Pac-10 play next weekend, Friday Sept. 26 and Saturday Sept. 27 against Washington State and Washington at McKale Center.
