TUCSON, Ariz. ?C Redshirt junior Eric Berger became the third Arizona southpaw selected in the 2007 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.

The left-hander, who missed the entire 2007 season after having elbow surgery in the spring of 2006, became the second Wildcat to be taken by the Oakland Athletics when they tabbed him with the 300th overall selection in the ninth round

Prior to going down with the elbow injury in the second month of the 2006 season, Berger had posted a 9-6 overall record in 31 career appearances at UA. He has struck out 111 batters in 99 2/3 innings and has limited the opposition to a .236 batting average.
