TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team is in 10th place after two rounds of the 2012 NCAA Southwest Regional in Norman, Okla.

The Wildcats, seeded 11th in the field, posted a 311 (+19) total in the second round and stand in 10th place after 36 holes with a 600 (+24) total.

Washington, who posted the low round of the day with a seven-under 281, moved to the top of the leaderboard with a 567 (-9) total. That figure is four strokes ahead of second-place Florida State and five ahead of third-place Texas. Illinois (575) and Georgia Tech (576) are in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Gusty winds wreaked havoc with the scores on Friday, as the field average was 2.21 stroke higher today than in Thursday's opening round.

The top-five teams advance to the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 29-June 3, at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Illinois' Thomas Pieters holds the individual lead with a seven-under 137 tally.

Arizona continues to be led by sophomore Erik Oja, who is tied for 23rd place at three-over 147, one stroke ahead of teammate Tucker Wadkins, who is tied for 28th place. Oja carded UA's low round of the day, a 77.

Junior Juan Pablo Hernandez and senior Philip Bagdade are each tied for 50th place at nine-over 153. Trent Redfern is in a tie for 64th place at 12-over 156.

The 54-hole 2012 NCAA Southwest Regional continues through Saturday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, a par-72, 7,387-yard layout. The event is hosted by the University of Oklahoma. Live tournament scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
