Selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 22nd round of the 2006 MLB First Year Player Draft, but opted not to sign a professional contract and return to Arizona for his senior season.

 

Arizona 2006

Second team Academic All-Pac-10 ... Appeared in 17 games, making 16 starts ... Won a team-high six games in 2006 and finished the season with a 6-5 record and 4.70 ERA ... Struck out 82 batters in 82 1/3 innings of work ... No. 12 Arizona State (May 19-21): Picked up his team-leading sixth win of the season after holding the Devils to three runs on six hits over five innings ... Washington State (May 13-15): Was charged with his fifth loss of the year despite holding WSU to four runs on six hits over six innings of work. Ended the game with six Ks ... at Washington (April 28-30): Tossed eight scoreless innings in a 15-0 win over the Huskies to earn his fifth victory of the year. Struck out a season-high eight batters and allowed just six hits in the longest outing of his career ... Stanford (April 21-23): Won his fourth game of the year after holding the Cardinal to two earned runs on seven hits over six innings of work. Struck out five and walked three ... at Cal (March 30-April 1): Shut out the Bears on four hits over six innings to pick up his third win of the year. Struck out seven and walked two in the 5-1 UA win ... UC Irvine (March 25-26): Was charged with a hard-luck loss after holding UCI to just one run on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. Finished with five Ks and two walks ... No. 7 Cal State Fullerton (March 18-20): Went six innings in a no-decision effort against the Titans .. Gave up just two runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking two ... at No. 15 Mississippi State (March 10-12): Did not earn a decision in a 5 2/3 inning start against the Bulldogs. Surrendered just three runs on four hits in the 5-4 Arizona loss ... vs. Notre Dame (March 5): Shut out the Irish over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision effort at the Dairy Queen Classic in the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Struck out eight and walked none in the eventual 2-0 Arizona win ... La Salle (Feb. 24-26): Struck out seven over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision outing against the Explorers. Gave up just two runs on five hits ... at UC Riverside (Feb. 10-12): Won his second game of the season and his first career start with a five inning effort. Surrendered just three earned runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking one ... Loyola Marymount (Feb. 3-5): Recorded his first career victory with 3 1/3 solid innings of relief. Scattered three hits and did not give up a run.

 

Arizona 2005

Appeared in 13 games, all out of the bullpen ... Worked a total of 13 2/3 innings and finished with a 4.61 ERA and 12 strikeouts ... Did not factor in a decision ... NCAA Fullerton Regional (June 3-6): Worked two innings in UA’s 7-2 loss to Fullerton on June 5. Gave up one run on three hits while striking out two and walking one ... Cal (May 28-29): Tossed 1 2/3 innings in Arizona’s 10-5 win. Struck out one and walked two ... at #24 Arizona State (May 14-16): Appeared in two games in the series and tossed a combined 1 1/3 scoreless innings ... Utah Valley State (May 6-8): Tossed a scoreless inning to help preserve UA’s 16-0 shutout win on May 6 ... at New Mexico (April 19): Struck out two of three hitters he faced in a scoreless inning of relief  ... at #2 Cal State Fullerton (March 18-20): Appeared in one game in the series. Did not give up a hit in 2/3 of an inning ... UNLV (March 15-16): Pitched a season-high two innings against the Rebels on March 15. Did not give up a hit and struck out one ... UC Riverside (Feb. 25-27): Pitched one scoreless inning against the Highlanders on Feb. 25 ... at UT Pan American (Feb. 18-20): Made his first appearance of the season and worked one inning in Arizona’s 7-0 loss.

 

Summer 2005

Pitched for the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley League ... Was named to the All-Valley League team after going 5-0 with a 1.62 ERA during the summer ... Pitched 39 innings and struck out 62 batters.

 

Arizona 2004

Was the only player to make the roster out of fall walk-on tryouts ... Appeared in 15 games out of the bullpen ... Finished with an 0-1 record and a 4.66 ERA in 9 2/3 innings pitched ... College World Series: Tossed a third of an inning in UA’s CWS opening game against Georgia ... Washington State (March 26-28): Worked a season-high two innings in Arizona’s 10-4 loss to the Cougars on March 27 ...

Graduated from Mesa Mountain View High School where he earned two letters in baseball for coach Mike Thiel ... East Valley Region Player of the Year in 2003 ... Selected to play on the 5A South team in the AzBCA All-Star Game in 2003 ... Named second-team all-state his senior season by the AzBCA... Was tabbed with first-team honors by the East Valley Tribune in 2003 ... Graduated in the top 5 percent of his senior class ... Is on an academic scholarship to Arizona.
