            Travis Ochs joined the staff in June 2004 and works as Arizona’s defensive graduate assistant. He came to UA from the University of South Florida, where he was a defensive graduate assistant in 2003. He'll be wrapping up his UA tenure after spring 2007 ball, and said he plans to enter business.


            A four-year starting linebacker at Kansas State, Ochs was a decorated player for the KSU defense from 1995-98, and was a team captain his final two seasons.  His career spanned Mike Stoops’ work as defensive ends coach and three years as the defensive coordinator.


            Ochs was Big 8 defensive Freshman of the Year in 1995 and earned all-league honors each of his four years. He received Academic All-Big 12 honors his final three seasons. He was defensive Most Valuable Player in the 1997 Fiesta Bowl and also played in the 1995 Holiday Bowl, the 1997 Cotton Bowl and the 1998 Alamo Bowl. During his redshirt season, the Wildcats played in the 1994 Aloha Bowl. He was a participant in the inaugural Gridiron Classic Bowl following his senior year.


            Ochs served as a student assistant for the Wildcats in 1999 while completing degree studies, then worked in Kansas City with Commodity Trading Co. for several years before taking a position at South Florida.  He was married to the former Megan Jarvis in June 2003.
