The Arizona Wildcat men's tennis team will send two players to compete in the 11th-annual Baylor-HEB Invitational in Waco, Texas. Play will begin on Fri., Sept. 23 and continue through Sun., Sept. 25.
The sophomore duo of Mario Urguidi and Andre Vidaller will represent Arizona against the 16 schools competing in this year's tournament. The tournament will consist of a 64-player singles bracket and one 32-team doubles draw. All of this weekend's matches are set to be played at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center.
Among those participating in this year's event are seven players who are ranked in the ITA national preseason rankings as well as three freshmen who are ranked in the ITA's top-10 rookies. There will also be two ITA top-50 tanked doubles teams represented in the doubles draw.
Teams participating in the tournament include: Baylor, Fresno State, Iowa, UL-Lafayette, Laredo C.C., Maryland, Midwestern State, New Mexico State, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Portland, Rice, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio and UT-Pan American.
Arizona opened its season at the Aggie Fall Invitational where Urquidi was the team's most successful player. This will be Vidaller's first competition of the season.
