TUCSON, Ariz. - Boosted by a captivating run to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight, the University of Arizona men's basketball team finished the 2010-11 campaign with a top-10 ranking.

The Wildcats garnered the No. 9 slot in the final edition of the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released April 5. It was the ninth consecutive week that Arizona was ranked to close the season. The No. 9 placement was UA's highest of the year.

The end-of-season ranking marks the first time that Arizona has ended the season ranked in the top 10 of either poll since the 2002-03 squad finished fifth in the coaches poll. In the last 24 seasons, Arizona has finished the season with a national ranking in either poll in 20 times.

The Elite Eight run certainly was a boon for the Wildcats, as the club entered the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 17 in the Associated Press poll.

Arizona (30-8, 14-4 Pac-10) won the 2011 Pac-10 Conference regular-season championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament West Regional final. It marked the fourth time in school history that an Arizona squad has won 30 or more games.
