TEMPE--The Arizona women's soccer team lost their first match at the Sun Devil Desert Classic, 3-0 to the University of Nebraska.

The Huskers got three goals around junior goalkeeper Ashley Jett, who managed to grab an additional seven shots on goal.

Arizona (1-3-1) took only 2 shots on goal, both in the second half of play, one by freshman Ana Montoya, and another by junior Renae Cuellar.

Cuellar, and freshman Jazmin Ponce led Arizona with three shot attempts apiece. Sophomore Brittany Cole and senior Macke Mutz also took shots for the Wildcats.

Nebraska (5-1-0) outshot the Wildcats 20-10, and 10-2 on shots on goal. Jordan Jackson, who scored in the 11th minute, made their first goal. Morgan Marlborough led the Huskers with 6 shots for the night.

"We played against a very hard working team in Nebraska," Said head coach Lisa Oyen, "We missed some great opportunities in both halves that could have changed the complexion of the match. We need to be able to capitalize on opportunities we are creating. It took our team longer to get into the rhythm of the game then we would have liked. We are still working towards putting together a more complete 90-minute performance."

Sunday, the Wildcats will wrap up the tournament in Tempe, facing Tennessee at 11am.
