The following is a glimpse into the on the field and off the field lives of the Wildcat midfielders.

 

#22 Jacqueline Broussard, freshman

Over the summer, I: trained and competed with my club team. We won both a state and regional championship.

This season I want the team to: grow and develop together and hopefully get a Pac-10 Championship trophy.

I chose my number because: it has been my number since childhood.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: work on my weaknesses and flying changes.

I chose the U of A because: of the great coaching and academic staff as well as the great atmosphere.

My favorite soccer player is: Ronaldinho because his love and passion for the game is always present and unmatched by anyone.

I love it when: Coach Tobias uses his famous analogies in practice, when I score a goal and when I spend time with loved ones.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my late grandfather because I know no other man like him.

My personality off the field is: easy going yet energetic.

I’d like an autograph from: Mohammad Ali.

The place I would most like to live is: in my hometown of Newport Beach.

My personal goals for the season are: to grow as a player in all aspects of the game.

I am thankful for: my amazing family.

I am motivated by: my constant desire to be #1.

One place I want to live is: Africa because I would love to help make a difference there any way that I could.

 

#17 Alex Davis, freshman

Over the summer, I: worked at the Tucson Racquet Club, rehabbed my knee, ran, lifted and hung out with friends.

This season I want the team to: get the furthest the U of A program has gotten and to work hard and have a blast doing it.

My favorite part of being on the team is: all of the girls and how close I have become with all of them already.

I chose my number because: it is Cristiano Ronaldo’s number and it was one of my best friend’s numbers.

I chose the U of A because: it was close to home, but mostly because the environment is great and the girls are amazing.

My favorite soccer player is: Ronaldinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

I love it when: the team goes to Funtastics and players laser tag and bumper cars while dancing.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mom because she has taught me to be who I have become.

My personality off the field is: crazy and very outgoing.

I’d like an autograph from: Cristiano Ronaldo.

The place I would most like to live is: someplace where all of my friends and family are.

My personal goals for the season are: to meet some of my best friends and to be able to play.

I am thankful for: all of my friends, new and old, and my mom and my brother.

I am motivated by: my teammates because I work for them.

One place I want to live is: Texas with my best friend Lindsay (Lum).

 

#3 Samantha Drees, freshman

Over the summer, I: traveled, did physical therapy and watched the World Cup.

This season I want the team to: work hard, play hard and win it all!

My favorite part of being on the team is: the girls because they are all so friendly and determined.

I chose my number because: 11 was taken and I am very superstitious (I use three in many things too).

My favorite thing to do in practice is: shooting.

I chose the U of A because: the beautiful campus, the great athletic department, the coaches and the team.

My favorite soccer player is: Zinedine Zidane.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my father.

My personality off the field is: outgoing, fun, laid back and caring.

I’d like an autograph from: Lance Armstrong.

The place I would most like to live is: California.

My personal goals for the season are: to work hard and get back from my injury, win 50/50 balls and scoring on frame.

I am thankful for: my family, friends and my athleticism.

I am motivated by: my coaches and teammates.

One place I want to live is: Italy or Australia.

 

#8 Christina Hughes, redshirt freshman

Over the summer, I: trained so I could be good to go in preseason and I went to Idaho for my last run at regionals.

This season I want the team to: play as a team and win the Pac-10 again, as well as making it further in the NCAA tournament.

I chose my number because: it is a family number and it is my dad’s favorite number.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: flying changes because of the competitiveness.

I chose the U of A because: of the coaches and players as well as my academic major.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: actually stepping out onto the field and experiencing what it is like to play at this level.

My favorite soccer player is: Michelle Akers.

I love it when: you go into a great tackle and then you both laugh it off.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): Michelle Akers.

My personality off the field is: outgoing and full of life.

I’d like an autograph from: Zinedine Zidane.

The place I would most like to live is: Australia because of the kangaroos and the diversity.

My personal goals for the season are: to get records in assists and make my team better.

I am thankful for: Trae (the team’s trainer) getting me ready to play again.

One place I want to live is: Jamaica.

 

#14 Sarah Litt, junior

Over the summer, I: took summer school and trained at the U of A. I also went home to Washington and to California to train and visit my family.

This season I want the team to: win another Pac-10 Championship and make it past the Sweet 16 round in the NCAA tournament.

My favorite part of being on the team is: building friendships with the girls and the free stuff.

I chose my number because: I was #14 in high school and my favorite, #3, was already taken.

I chose the U of A because: I saw the potential of the soccer team, I love being warm and it’s far enough away from my family to be independent but still close enough to visit throughout the year.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: scoring the winning goal against Weber State.

My favorite soccer player is: Cristiano Ronaldo.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mother.

My personality off the field is: unpredictable and I tell it like it is.

I’d like an autograph from: Alex Rodriguez.

The place I would most like to live is: New York or Washington.

My personal goals for the season are: to be an impact player and playmaker.

I am thankful for: my family and my good friends.

I am motivated by: Harold Warren and his “me against the world” mentality.

One place I want to live is: Belize.

 

#15 Lindsay Lum, freshman

Over the summer, I: trained to get ready for college and I said goodbye to all my friends and family.

This season I want the team to: work well together, play with heart and determination and win it all.

My favorite part of being on the team is: getting to be a part of a new family.

I chose my number because: I have had it my whole soccer career.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: juggle and scrimmage.

I chose the U of A because: the coaches are amazing, the players are super sweet and it’s hot here.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: when Claire Bodiya and I ran smack into each other, pretty much knocking us both out.

My favorite soccer player is: Zinedine Zidane.

I love it when: Coach Tobias says metaphors out of nowhere.

My personality off the field is: goofy and playful.

The place I would most like to live is: wherever I can see some good soccer.

My personal goals for the season are: to play as hard as I possibly can.

I am thankful for: my parent because I would be here without them.

I am motivated by: a hard worker and underdogs.

One place I want to live is: Australia.

 

#18 Macke Mutz, freshman

Over the summer, I: ran and did anything I could to get in shape.

This season I want the team to: bond because being on a team is like having a second family.

My favorite part of being on the team is: the girls and playing soccer.

My favorite thing to do in practice is: cool down because it feels so good.

I chose the U of A because: I love the coaches, the girls, and the heat so it seemed like a perfect match.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: winning the state cup for the first time when I was 15.

I love it when: we win of course.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my parents.

My personality off the field is: outgoing and happy.

I’d like an autograph from: Angelina Jolie.

The place I would most like to live is: Venice.

My personal goals for the season are: to play and to get faster.

I am thankful for: this opportunity.

I am motivated by: intensity; the more other yell, the harder I play.

One place I want to live is: Greece or anywhere overseas.

 

#4 Amanda Urtuzuastegui, junior

Over the summer, I: took summer school all summer. I also went to Mexico with my family.

This season I want the team to: win the Pac-10 again and go all the way in the tournament.

My favorite part of being on the team is: having a good time with the girls.

I chose my number because: I wanted 3, so my best friend who plays somewhere else took 1, 4-1=3.

I chose the U of A because: I love the girls and the coaches.

My most memorable moment on the soccer field is: scoring the winning goal against BYU.

I love it when: I have a good day.

The person (people) I admire the most is (are): my mom.

My personality off the field is: goofy, I’m always laughing.

I’d like an autograph from: David Beckham.

The place I would most like to live is: back home in Mesa.

My personal goals for the season are: to score five goals.

I am thankful for: my legs because my best friend was paralyzed in July.

I am motivated by: doing well and being acknowledged for my effort.

One place I want to live is: Spain.
