TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona senior Davellyn Whyte (Phoenix, Ariz.) was named the Pac-12 Conference player of the week for the week of Feb. 18-24, the conference office announced on Monday.

Whyte averaged 24.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 8.5 assists, while shooting 47.2 percent from the field to lead the Wildcats in a pair of close losses to rival Arizona State.

She opened the week posting the first triple-double in program history and only the 16th in Pac-12 history. She led all players with 31 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in an 81-77 double-overtime loss in Tucson on Tuesday. It was her third 30-point game of the season, the most for a Pac-12 player this year.

She followed up with an 18-point, 12 rebound performance in a one-point loss to the Sun Devils on Sunday (59-58), also adding seven assists. She became the second player in Arizona women’s basketball history to score 2,000+ career points and only the 14th player in league history to reach the milestone.

The honor is Whyte’s first this season, second of her career and Arizona women’s basketball’s 40th all-time.

Whyte will be recognized for her 2,000-point achievement on Friday, March 1 before the Wildcats take on USC at 8 p.m.
