TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's golf team received its second No. 2 ranking of the season, as the initial Golf Coaches Association of America Top-25 Coaches Poll was released late Thursday.

The Wildcats earned 826 points in balloting done by NCAA Division I men's golf coaches to rank second nationally. Only the University of Florida with 892 points overall was ranked higher. Georgia (773), Oklahoma State (745) and Georgia Tech (742) round out the top five.

Arizona returns the top seven players from last year's NCAA third-place finisher, including reigning Pac-10 individual champion Ricky Barnes and freshman All-American Chris Nallen.

The GCAA Top-25 Coaches Poll is released once in the fall and bi-weekly beginning Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, and is scheduled to run through the 2002 NCAA Championships.

Earlier this month, Arizona was also ranked No. 2 nationally in the preseason Golf World Men's College Golf Rankings. It marks the 15th time in the last 16 seasons that the Arizona men's golf team has received a top-10 national ranking, including nine times at No. 2 or better.

Barnes, Nallen and the rest of the Arizona men's golf team are back in action Sept. 28-30 at The Preview by Ping and Golfweek in Columbus, Ohio.
