DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ?- The National Golf Coaches Associated (NGCA) announced awards for the 2006-07 Division I Women’s College Golf student-athletes on May 25, 2007.  Included in the list of honorees was junior Alison Walshe, who was named as a First Team All-American.  Walshe was also named to the NGCA Central All-Region Team.

Walshe transferred to Arizona after playing her sophomore season at Tulane University.  Due to Hurricane Katrina, the Green Wave were forced to eliminated eight sports from its athletic program, in which women’s golf was included.  At Tulane, Walshe was named Conference USA Player of the Year and honored as a Second Team All-American.

Walshe posted a team-leading 73.35 stroke average through twelve events.  Walshe also led the Wildcats in top 10/20 finishes (nine), low round (67), low tournament (207), and rounds at or under par (12).  Walshe won three tournaments throughout the 2006-07 season, including the Mason Rudolph Championship, the Stanford Pepsi Invitational (tied for first), and the BYU Dixie Classic.

Walshe also garnered First Team Pac-10 honors in her first season as a Wildcat.  The Westford, Mass., native is the 48th Arizona women’s golfer to earn All-American accolades since 1979.
