TUCSON, Ariz. - The first upset of the 2005 Four Points University Plaza Wildcat Classic happened this afternoon as unranked Northwestern swept No. 20 Georgia Tech at McKale Center. Game scores were 34-32, 30-28, 30-23.
The Wildcats out-hit the Yellow Jackets .244 to .163 in the otherwise very similar match statistically.
Northwestern was led by Julie Purcell and Cassie McLaughlin with 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Setter Lauren Greenwood finished with 30 assists, while libero Christie Gardner notched 14 digs.
For Georgia Tech, Talisa Kellogg had 14 kills and 13 digs, while Callie Miller finished with 11 kills. Setter Lindsey Laband dished out 44 assists.
Georgia Tech faces host and No. 17 Arizona (1-0) at 7 p.m. this evening.
