TUCSON - Jawann McClellan, Daniel Dillon and Chase Budinger combined for 35 first-half points as the University of Arizona men's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in collecting a 125-74 exhibition win Saturday afternoon in McKale Center.
McClellan scored 11 points in the span of 3:56 in the opening half that pushed what was a nine-point lead to 17 and all but put the game out of reach. The junior gaurd from Houston connected on 6-of-13 field goal attempts, including all three attempts from behind the arc, and finished with 19 points.
Budinger added 10 points and seven rebounds of his own in the first half, while Dillon knocked down three treys and added four assists in 11 first half minutes.
Budinger, who hit 10-of 20 shots from the floor shared game-high honors of 24 points with Nic Wise, who turned in an efficient performance. The 5-foot-9 freshman hit all eight of his field goal attempts, including four treys, while adding four assists and three steals.
The Wildcats shot 52.3 percent (45-of-86) from the floor for the game, including a blistering 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from three-point range. The balanced attack saw five players finish in double figures, six grab five or more rebounds and 10 play 10 or more minutes.
Team Georgia struggled from the field, connecting on just 30-of- 86 attempts (.349) for the game and turned the ball over 23 times.
Arizona returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in an exhibition game against the University of Victoria. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MST. The contest can be seen on FSN Arizona.
