Senior earns kudos from two publications

TUCSON , Ariz. ?C University of Arizona womenˇ?s golfer Alison Walshe was named national Player of the Week by two different publications for the week of March 17-23.

?

Walshe, a senior from Westford, Mass., was named Player of the Week by both Golfweek and Golf World after capturing individual medalist honors March 19 at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kaneˇ?ohe, Oahu, Hawaii.? She carded a three-round total of 213 (-3).? Walshe opened the event with a career-low 66, finished with a five-stroke lead and was the only player under par in the field of 91.

Walshe led wire-to-wire in Hawaii to claim her second win of the season and her fifth as a Wildcat.

Through eight events this season, Walshe carries a team-leading 72.08 stroke average, and 12 of her 24 rounds played have been at par or better.? She is currently the fifth-rated player nationally according to the March 23 Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.? In addition to those two victories this season, Walshe has finished in the top-10 places in seven of eight starts.
