TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona women's soccer team opened its 2007 season with a morning and afternoon training session and according to head coach Dan Tobias things went well in the early going.

"The morning session was very lively," said Tobias. "The first session is always an interesting one because you're implementing new people into the program, but I think all the newcomers showed something early on. They all came prepared and I think the group as a whole had a really strong first day. I think the mentality is good and the effort is there. The nicest thing with this group is there is a larger returning core with experience this year so there is a lot more familiarity out here."

The first day of training featured some early fitness and work on both sides of the ball. According to Tobias there was some very strong "small group work" on the first day.

The Cats will continue their training sessions with a pair of double days on Tuesday and Wednesday at Murphey Soccer Field at Mulcahy Stadium.

Season and individual game tickets remain on sale with fans able to purchase them online www.arizonaathletics.com, by calling 520-621-CATS (2287) or by stopping by the McKale Center Ticket Office during normal business hours Monday-Friday.
