Men's Golf Heads to San Diego

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's golf team heads to San Diego, Calif. this week to compete in the Barona Collegiate Cup on March 22-23.

The tournament, hosted by San Diego State, will be held at the Barona Creek Golf Club, a par-72, 7,088-yard course. The 54 holes will be spread over two days, beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday for the first 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played on Friday, starting at 7 a.m.

The 16-team field includes Arizona, host San Diego State, Central Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Illinois, Kent State, Loyola Marymount, North Texas, Northwestern, Pacific, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, TCU, Southern California, and Utah.

Arizona's lineup includes senior Philip Bagdade, juniors Juan Pablo Hernandez and Trent Redfern, sophomores Erik Oja and Chris Capo, and freshmen Alex McMahon, Tucker Wadkins, and Brenden Redfern.

Last week, the Wildcats hosted the National Invitational Tournament at Omni Tucson National Golf Course, and finished sixth final a final total of 882. Oja finished with a spring-best tie for 8th place with a final of 216 (E). The NIT marks the fourth time Oja has finished in the top-10. Bagdade's 218 (+2) put him at a season-best tie for 16th with Hernandez, and McMahon posted a career-low with a final total of 219 (+3), which placed him at a career-best finish tie for 20th place.
