FRESHMAN: At the 2000 NCAA Championships, earned four first-team All-America honors in the 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 200m medley relay and the 400m medley relay... Won the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:06.70... Placed second in the 200m medley relay (1:49.71) and the 400m medley relay (3:58.47)... Finished third in the 100m backstroke (59.34)... Came in 21st in the 100m butterfly (1:01.50)... Crowned 2000 Pac-10 champion in the 200y back in a time of 1:54.45... Finished fourth in the 100y back (53.91) at the Pac-10 meet... Broke the American and the U.S. Open record in the 200m (SC) backstroke at the Texas Invitational in December 1999 by swimming a time of 2:07.36... Holds the school record in the 100y back (53.16), the 200y back (1:53.52), the 200y medley relay (1:38.30) and the 400 medley relay (3:33.66)... Holds the school's fourth-fastest times in the 100y butterfly (54.93) and the 200y butterfly (2:02.44)... Named the 1999-2000 Pac-10 Women's Swimming Newcomer of the Year.

1999 PAN AMERICAN GAMES: The most impressive performance of the summer for the Wildcats came at the 1999 Pan American Games (August 1-7) in Winnipeg, Canada, as four Arizona swimmers hauled in a total of seven medals, while competing in only nine events... Botsford clocked a time of 2:12.95 in the 200m backstroke to earn the silver medal and swam to a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke, with a time of 1:02.48.

HIGH SCHOOL: 1998 World Championship team member... Listed as the 12th-fastest woman ever in 200m backstroke and the fourth-fastest American woman... Currently the 14th-fastest woman ever in 100m back and the fourth-fastest American woman... 1994 Spring Rookie of the Meet... Four-time national champion.

YEAR-BY-YEAR: 1998: Finished fourth in the 100m back and fifth in the 200m back at P66 Summer Nationals, qualifying for the 1999 Pan American Games... Swam the backstroke leg of 400m medley relay in prelims at World Championships and earned a gold medal... Finished fifth in the 100m back... Member of the National "A" team... 1997: Finished second in the 100m back at P66 Summer Nationals, but declined Pan Pacific trip... Swept backstroke events at P66 Spring Nationals... Member of the National "A" team... 1996: Won the 100m back at the 1996 Olympics and was a member of the gold medal-winning 400m medley relay team... Finished 10th in the 200m back... Won the 200m back at the U.S. Trials and finished second in the 100m back to earn a spot on the Olympic team... 1995: Won the 200m back at P66 Summer Nationals, qualifying for the Pan Pacific team... Champion in the 200m back and the 100m back runner-up at P66 Spring Nationals... 1994: Won Rookie-of-the-Meet Award at P66 Spring Nationals with her fifth-place finish in the 100m backstroke... Set National Age Group record (11-12) in 50y and 100y back and 50m fly... 1993: Set National Age Group record (11-12) in 50y fly... 1992: Set National Age Group record (9-10) in the 50y, 50m, 100y and 100m back.

PERSONAL: Beth Anne Botsford... Born 5/21/81 in Baltimore, Md... Daughter of Kevin and Elaine Botsford... Both parents are graduates of Towson State University... Father, Kevin, was a collegiate swimmer from 1967-71 and is currently a stockbroker, while mother is a computer programmer... Sister Stacie currently swims at Amherst College...
