Senior forward averaged 28.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game

 

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- University of Arizona men’s basketball player Ivan Radenovic has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 26-March 4, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

 

Radenovic, a 6-foot-10 forward from Belgrade, Serbia, led Arizona to its fifth consecutive road win and its second straight weekend road sweep by averaging 28.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, while shooting 68.0 percent (17-of-25) from the field.  The senior forward also connected on 2-of-2 (1.000) three-point attempts and added two blocks and two steals.

 

He opened the week with 19 points (5-of-7 FGs) to go with eight rebounds and two blocks in the win over California.  Radenovic followed that up with a career-high 37 points, nine rebounds, a career-high seven assists and zero turnovers in 44 minutes of action in the overtime win at Stanford.  Radenovic connected on both three-point attempts and all 11 free throws en route to the second-highest point total by a Pac-10 player this season and the most for a UA player in two seasons.

 

On the year, Radenovic is averaging 15.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 51.8 percent from the field.

 

This is the second weekly honor for Radenovic this season and Arizona's 69th Player of the Week all-time. He was also the league’s player of the week on Jan. 1.  Radenovic is the second Wildcat to claim the honor this season, joining Chase Budinger on Nov. 20.

 

Arizona (20-9, 11-7 Pac-10) will next be in action on Thursday, March 8, in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Pacific Life Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles against Oregon.  The game is scheduled to tip off at 12:20 p.m. PST and can be seen nationally on Fox Sports Net.
