TUCSON - After a brief weather delay, the No. 13 University of Arizona Wildcat women's golf team wrapped up play at the Pac-10/SEC Challenge on Sunday. The three-round event was held at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. (par 71/6,148 yards).
Arizona finished fourth in the team standings with a carding of 877 (286-292-299/+25). No. 5 UCLA won the team title with a score of 856 (+4). No. 3 Alabama was second (867 (+15) and No. 2 USC rounded out the top three (875/+23). The individual winner was Sophia Popov of USC with a score of 207 (-6)."I'm happy with our fourth-place finish but, of course, we wanted to do better," head coach Laura Ianello said. "The weather was bad today and the team played strong. Isabelle Boineau had an amazing tournament this week with sunch a great field. Justin and I are very happy with her effort. Now the offseason begins and we start back up in January."
Junior Isabelle Boineau moved from tied for fifth to tied for seventh during the final round of player. Over three rounds, she carded scores of 71, 69 and 74, including two under par, for a total of 214 (+1). No. 43 junior Margarita Ramos finished tied for 18th overall (71-72-76=219/+6). Ramos also had two rounds under par.
Sophomore Kyndall Ardoin made another big jump on Sunday, Moving from tied for 35th to tied for 21st, she collected scores of 75, 73 and 73 for a total of 221 (+8). Senior Alejandra Llaneza wrapped up the three-day event shooting a 76 (+5) on Sunday for a total of 226 (+13). Junior Nikki Koller finished tied for 73rd with scores of 74, 78 and 80 for a three-round total of 232 (+19).
