TUCSON, Ariz. -

Arizona head coach David Rubio and the Wildcat volleyball team (13-6, 5-5) host a pair of top-five teams in No. 5 Stanford (14-3, 8-3) and No. 2 California (19-2, 9-2) this weekend. The Wildcats will take on the Cardinal on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. and the Bears on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

Of the players competing, senior Cursty Jackson (Los Angeles) leads in kills (205), hitting percentage (.337) and blocks (64). Freshman Chloe Mathis (La Jolla, Calif.) has taken over setting duties and leads with 484 and sophomore Candace Nicholson (Long Beach, Calif.) leads in service aces and digs with 15 and 223, respectively. Kills-leader and freshman Madi Kingdon (Phoenix, Ariz.) will not suit up for the Wildcats because of an ankle injury.

The Wildcats swept on the road last weekend, defeating Colorado, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-18) and Utah, 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-22).

Scouting the Cardinal

Stanford has won six matches in a row, including a weekend sweep of Washington (3-0) and Washington State (3-0). The Cardinal are led by Carly Wopat, Rachel Williams and Karissa Cook, who all rank in the top 50 in the nation in five categories. Wopat is #4 in blocks and #32 in hitting percentage, Williams is #12 in points and #16 in kills and Cook is #4 in assists.

Scouting Cal
Cal swept the Washington schools last weekend to finish the first half of conference play with a 9-2 record. The Bears feature five players in the national rankings with Kat Brown, Robin Rostratter, Shannon Hawari, Elly Barrett and Tarah Murrey. Brown is #4 in hitting percentage and #18 in blocks, Hawari is #20 in hitting percentage, Barrett is #7 in assists, Murrey is #21 in points and #24 in kills and Rostratter is #26 in digs.
