            Prouty ties for fourth place with an eight-under 208 total

               

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The University of Arizona men’s golf team shot a three-under 28/15 total Friday at the John Burns Intercollegiate at Leilehua Golf Club in Wahaiwa, Hawaii.

 

Four players posted rounds at par or better as the Wildcats 54-hole total of 860 (-4) tied the team tied for sixth place.  UA moved three spots up the leaderboard in Friday’s final round.  The Cats were a combined 10 strokes under par over the final 36 holes of the tournament.

 

Brigham Young posted a 30-under 834 total to top the 22-team field by eight strokes.  UNLV (842), Texas A&M (855), San Diego State (856) and Colorado State (858) rounded out the top-five places.

 

The Wildcats were led by Brian Prouty, who carded a three-under 69 en route to an eight-under 208 tally.  He posted his second consecutive top-five finish with a tie for fourth place.  SMU’s Frank Wrenn claimed individual medalist honors in the 123-man field with at 13-under 203.

 

Nicholas Park, Nathan Tyler and Josh Esler all shot even-par 72s over the final 18 holes.  Park tied for 44th place at two-over 218, while Tyler tied for 63rd place at four-over 220, and Esler tied for 71st place five-over 221.  Creighton Honeck carded a final-round 75 and tied for 63rd place at 220 (+4).

 

UA senior Ben Marsh also competed in the field as an individual.  He tied for 32nd place at even par 216.

 

The 54-hole John Burns Intercollegiate was contested at Leilehua Golf Club, a par 72, 6,918-yard layout.
