Arizona Women's Golf Ranked 12th in Golf World Preseason Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. ?- The Arizona women’s golf team will enter the 2006-07 season ranked No. 12 in the nation, according to Golf World magazine. 


Arizona received 212 points in the coaches poll, to place them in a tie with Virginia.  Duke heads the preseason coaches poll with 449 points, followed by Arizona State with 403 points.


Transfer Alison Walshe, one of two players coming to Arizona from Tulane University, has been noted as a player to watch for the upcoming season according to Golf World magazine.


Arizona returns six letterwinners from the 2005-06 season, including sophomore Adriana Zwanck who won two individual titles in her freshman season.  Sophomore Amanda Wilson also returns after a strong freshman season, where she had four top 20 finishes in her 11 starts.


Arizona finished 17th at the NCAA National Championships in 2006.  The Wildcats also had players finish in the top five three times throughout the season.


Arizona begins its season Sept. 15-17 at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Nashville, Tenn.
