TUCSON--The Arizona women's soccer team lost a close match to Brigham Young University Saturday night, losing 1-0 at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.

Defense was the word of the night as Arizona, now 2-5-1, kept BYU, now 6-2-1, out of the net until the 85th minute of the game, when Kassidy Shumway sunk a shot past red shirt senior Devon Wharf.

On the night, Wharf caught a total of seven of BYU's shots, with two key saves in the first half, and five more in the second.

"I thought we played really well in the first half tonight." Said head coach Dan Tobias, "We didn't give up a lot in the box, which is a good thing against a team like BYU. We got into a better rhythm in the second half, and took better care of the ball than in the first. We absolutely played a good game tonight. Yes, it stings that we lost, but we will keep getting better from games like this."

Next weekend, the Wildcats will head out to California to take on UC Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. September 25th. On September 27th, the Cats will take on Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California at noon.
