LOS ANGELES ?- The No. 8 Arizona volleyball team remained in second place in the Pacific-10 with a 3-1 win (27-30, 30-16, 30-23, 30-28) over No. 21 UCLA in Pauley Pavilion tonight. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 15-2 overall and 7-1 in the Pac-10.
Arizona hit .289 on the match, compared to the .113 of the Bruins. Arizona also out-blocked UCLA 13.5-8.
“We competed well, but we didn’t pass well,” Head Coach David Rubio said. “We overcame some of our inconsistencies on serve receive with our athleticism. It was a good win for us on the road. UCLA played well.”
Senior Kim Glass led all players with 23 kills and 17 digs, her 10th double-double of the season. Fellow senior Jennifer Abernathy also tallied a double-double, finishing with 18 kills and 18 digs. Junior Kristina Baum finished with 11 kills and seven digs.
Arizona plays at No. 19 USC at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 22.
