?* Top 25 national recruiter honors in 2006, 2005 and 2004 for his work at Arizona, helping UA land highly rated classes each of those seasons.

?* Despite missing 14 games, UA’s linebacking trio of sophomore Spencer Larsen, freshman Ronnie Palmer and sophomore Dane Krogstad combined for 127 tackles. Each had break-out games of 14+ tackles.

?* Palmer earned honorable mention freshman All-America honors in his abbreviated 2005 debut season.

?* Cat linebackers totaled 17 tackles, broke up a pass, forced a fumble and recovered two in UA’s season-finale victory over No. 18 ASU in 2004.

?* 16 years of experience coaching in the Big Ten and Pac-10.

?* Kish was part of an Illinois staff that took a 0-11 team in 1997 and improved the squad’s mark to 8-4 by 1999. His Illini unit that year recovered 13 fumbles, had 30 sacks and intercepted 14 passes, plus knocked off No. 9 Michigan in Ann Arbor and posted another big road victory at No. 22 Ohio State. The Illini beat Virginia in the Bowl and finished ranked No. 24.

?* The 2002 Indiana defensive unit finished fourth in the Big Ten and 33rd nationally in pass defense.

?* 2003 safety Will Meyers earned Sporting News Freshman All-America honors, and junior tackle Jodie Clemons led the club with 12 tackles for loss and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors.

?* Part of Northwestern staff that helped the Wildcats improve from 3-7-1 in 1994 to 10-2 in 1995 and 9-3 in his final season in Evanston.

?* Coached at Army, helping the Cadets make three bowl appearances, including a 31-29 victory over Illinois in the 1985 Peach Bowl. That season Army posted a 9-3 record and held eight of 12 opponents to 17 points or less. Helped coach an Army defense that held the opposition to 17 points or less 42 times during his tenure at West Point.

?* Helped coach Purdue to consecutive bowl appearances in his first two seasons. Purdue was 10-2 in 1979, including a Bluebonnet Bowl victory over Tennessee and in 1993 the Boilermakers were 9-3, including a victory over Missouri in the Liberty Bowl.

?* Played both football and basketball as a collegian at Otterbein College.

Tim Kish joined the UA staff in December 2003 and has established himself and Arizona as one of the nation’s top recruiters. His work with Mike and Mark Stoops is pivotal to UA’s defensive future.

He is the assistant head coach and works with the three linebackers positions on UA’s defense and a year ago faced the loss of 17 starts and 14 games played by all three budding stars under his tutelage.

Kish, 52, has three decades of coaching experience in the Big Ten, the Ohio prep ranks, at two Mid-American Conference schools, and at a major I-A independent. He came to UA after serving seven seasons as defensive coordinator at two Big Ten schools.

His work in his first two years has helped Arizona’s defense improved dramatically in overall effectiveness and close the gap between the league’s top units. His position players should emerge as a defensive feature of the club in 2006 and beyond.
